Excerpt from "Hold Out Your Hand - Stories from the Catholic Health Care Effort During the Global AIDS Crisis"
A Closing Prayer
Loving and merciful God,
Let us pause to remember those whose lives were cut short by HIV
and to recommit ourselves to standing in solidarity with those
who face the reality of a new diagnosis.
We seek from you the strength
to strive for justice,
to minister with kindness,
and to walk humbly with those whose lives have been affected by AIDS.
We ask you God, in the words of Saint Augustine,
to tend your sick ones,
rest your weary ones,
bless your dying ones,
soothe your suffering ones,
and pity your afflicted ones.
