Question: Are cancer registries reportable as community benefit if they are required for accreditation?
Recommendation: If maintaining a cancer registry is a requirement for a hospital's accreditation as a cancer center, then we think the IRS Form 990 Schedule H, Worksheet 4 instructions are clear that the hospital cannot report the costs of maintaining that registry as community benefit on Part I of the form.
