Question: We partner with a drug donation program in which we will receive and collect donated medication to distribute to our patients who cannot afford their drug prescriptions as well as donating unused medicine for the program to redistribute to other community partners to match their patients in need. The target population is uninsured and underinsured populations. The program is addressing access to health care. Would this partnership count as community benefits and if so, how would we count this?
Recommendation: Since you are helping community members as well as your patients, we recommend that the drug donation program be reported as community benefit at Health Care Support.
