Millions of low income people and families are in danger of losing their Medicaid coverage. We’re working to prevent that from happening.

ProtectingMedicaid

For Medicaid and CHIP Beneficiaries

Due to recent changes in the law, as many as 15 million Americans may be at risk of losing their Medicaid or Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) coverage beginning April 1, 2023. At that time, states may begin the redetermination process.

Secure your coverage today by ensuring your contact information is up to date with your state, so you receive timely and accurate mail about your coverage. It is important to watch your mail carefully as sometimes mail from the state may look like “junk” mail. Be sure to promptly complete a renewal form (if you receive one) to prevent gaps in your family’s coverage.

In late 2022, Congress passed a bill that contained a provision that decoupled the Medicaid continuous eligibility requirement made under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act. As part of this new law, Congress enacted a transition period that phased down the enhanced federal medical assistance percentage (FMAP) to states, ending the continuous coverage requirement on April 1, 2023, leaving millions at risk of losing their coverage. You can help make sure that does not happen by educating and informing patients on steps they can take to secure their family’s coverage.

Protect What's Precious Toolkit

CHA has created a complimentary Protect What’s Precious Toolkit that includes a series of downloadable posters and informational cards that may be branded with your system’s logo, talking points for frontline staff and CCTV videos for use in your facilities. Together, we can make a difference for our most vulnerable neighbors.
