2022 Lenten and Easter Reflections
Like anything of nuance, prayer beckons us into its depth. There can be great benefit to sitting with a particular piece more than once, allowing it to deepen within ourselves and letting God’s message for us continue to unfold. Indeed, repetition in prayer can be a valuable way to come to know more deeply where God is calling us. When we return to the same prayer to engage with it in a different way, it is as if we are saying to God, "I need to hear that again. Can you say it to me in another way?"
With this, we are pleased to offer resources for you to "re"-use for the 2022 Season of Lent. While some might recognize these, consider how much has changed for you since last you prayed with them in 2019. We have endured seemingly endless change and unrest: social, political, racial, and the list goes on. For some it is likely difficult to remember a pre-pandemic world, for others it might be all for which they long. Consider how these reflections sit with you just three years later. What has changed? What has remained constant? Of what do you need to be reminded? Finally, as the video reflections were so beautifully illustrated, how might you incorporate Visio Divina, or “divine seeing” into your prayer? Bearing in mind that this style of prayer is an invitation to wonder, how do the images and reflections come alive with personal meaning meant just for you at this particular point in your spiritual journey?
